This resume was used when I was 15 years-old. If you are interested in viewing my current resume (the one I’m sending to colleges, please email me cory AT corylevy DOT com)

I am a young entrepreneur from Houston, Texas.  Because I am still in high school, I have not had much work experience, so this resume outlines my accomplishments, skills, and knowledge.

I am tenacious in pursuit of a goal.  In elementary school, I had to write a report on a famous person.  I selected Steven Spielberg and instead of researching him through books and the internet, I decided to interview him on the phone.  I reached his assistant in LA who referred me to New York, where I was referred back to LA, and finally I reached his voicemail. (I am still waiting for a call back :) )

I am a strong competitor.  I have been a tournament tennis player since age 6, and have competed successfully in Texas and elsewhere in the US.

I understand money and finance.  At age 10, I became interested in the stock market most likely because my father is a stockbroker.  I researched and invested $1000 in Dell Computer stock.  A few years later, I sold it at its market high, doubling my money.

I have gained business knowledge, both theoretical and practical.  I have learned from many books and spoke with many people in business.  For instance, my grandfather, an attorney, taught me about contracts.  I have made contacts with entrepreneurs such as Mark Cuban, Pierre Omidyar, Jawed Karim, and James Hong, who have given me valuable insights about creating successful businesses.  I started the Entrepreneurs Club at my high school.  I was a guest lecturer at two Duke University classes, about my entrepreneurial activities.  I was a summer intern at TechStars and at Union Square Ventures.

I know how to build solid business relationships.  When professional tennis tournaments came to Houston, I was chosen to be a ball boy.  I built relationships with players, parents, agents, and coaches, including Maria Sharapova, Roger Federer, and Andre Agassi.  I created a Facebook profile and made about 600 “friends,” people who have given me advice, contacts, and encouragement.  A writer from Fortune contacted me about my successful use of a Facebook profile for business.

I know how to monetize business relationships, and how to build a business.  The tennis players autographed memorabilia for me to sell on eBay.  After that I started to buy and sell on eBay, branching out to other sports memorabilia.  I am creating my first startup, building a group of mentors and a team.

Quotes from mentors and friends that help inspire me:

“You have a lot of energy and passion about what you focus on, and that’s the most important thing.” – Pierre Omidyar (Founder of eBay.com)

“The main thing is ‘just do it.’” – Congressman Jared Polis (Founder of BlueMountain.com and ProFlowers.com)

“Age isn’t an issue.  You shouldn’t care whether people take you seriously or not.  If you are prepared and know your subject matter and business, they will figure out you are for real.”  - Mark Cuban (Owner, Dallas Mavericks and Founder of Broadcast.com)

“Surround yourself with great mentors.  Many will want to help just because ofyour age – leverage that.”  -David Cohen (Executive Director, TechStars)
